Base Requirements for Both Openings

All candidates should have 4+ years professional experience in Web design. They should  be organized and detail oriented, and they should also have a passion for design, current events and The New York Times. Personable, collaborative team players are a huge plus. Salary commensurate to experience and skill.

Information Architect

Help plan, organize and design/redesign features throughout NYTimes.com. Lead projects, define user goals, create wireframes. Consult to various projects and teams on usability and interaction design problems. Candidates should…

- Be highly skilled at wireframes and creating easily understood IA documents

Web Designer

Work on visual improvement of NYTimes.com as a platform, designing new features and  redesigning sections. Focus on creating online marketing materials for The Times, including ad units, micro-sites, branding, special projects and much more. All candidates should… 

- Have a refined sense of typography, layout, imagery and design principles

- Have a smart, visually stunning portfolio

- Be very comfortable with XHTML, CSS, Flash and Web production (though coding skills are not a primary requirement)
