Living Without a T.V.

Even when I had a television set I rarely watched it, except for the occasional need for a mind numbing experience. The only network show I religiously follow is Lost, and I consume approximately 4 to 5 Netflix DVD’s per month. Nonetheless, the T.V. was there to turn on at any given moment - when I get home from work, to eliminate awkward silence, watch the news or a sporting event. Now that I don’t have a T.V. I find myself doing other things that I would normally not do or doing those things that I should be doing more of.

Living without a T.V. I spend more time…

  1. online*
  2. reading
  3. writing
  4. listening to This American Life podcast
  5. listening to music
  6. playing with my cat
  7. talking on the phone
*I even cancelled my internet service and I’m finding that stealing WiFi is more difficult than I had originally anticipated. Therefore, the time that I spend online has actually dramatically decreased allowing me to spend more time doing everything else on this list.
